Good evening girls,
Today I have finally prepared for you something I was promising a long time. Yap, it is a tutorial about my "famous" gradient. What is so special about it? The fact that I am doing it with a fan brush and not using a make up sponge. I think this way I can blend the colours perfectly. I did a step by step tutorial, because I still don't have a tripod for my camera. I will try to explain the steps the best I can, and hope you will enjoy it! :) Oh, and of course - I have updated my final gradient with some tropical stamping, so make sure to read to the end!
Ok, so before we start, here is a picture of things you will need. Obviously, a fan brush and a piece of plastic bag! :) Try using similar colours, or at least colours of same finish and formula. This way your gradient will look the best. As you can see, I have used three polishes from BaronessX - Southland Sunsets Collection. You will need some white nail polish for base - I use Catrice - Brightening Base Coat. To protect your cuticles (because this can get a bit messy) I would suggest using liquid latex (the big purple bottle). To remove it, you will need tweezers. That is it! :) So, let's start!
Here is a collage of the steps. I won't post these pictures one by one, because this way you can see the progess the best. The details about each step are described below the picture .
STEP 1 - Protect your cuticles and skin around the nail using liquid latex. I prefer using it because it makes your clean up in the end easier. This step is quite important, because making gradients can be a bit messy. It dries really fast, so when you finish applying it, it should be already dry on the nail you applied it firstly.
STEP 2 - Apply the white base. This makes your colours pop out. As well, this way you will need less coats of gradient to make your mani look opaque.
STEP 3 - Apply a drop of each polish one above the other on the plastic bag. Try to put them down as close as possible.
STEP 4 - Using your fan brush, make a gradient on the plastic bag until you are satisfied with the look.
STEP 5 - Try to pick up with the fan brush as much polish as you can from the gradient on your plastic bag, and apply it on the nail. Always apply thin coats, because otherwise it can get a bit sticky.
STEP 6 - Repeat the step 5, until you are satidfied with the gradient on the nail.
STEP 7 - Remove the liquid latex using tweezers and do the clean up. I didn't mention acetone and a flat brush before, because I guess you all know how to do it :)
STEP 8 - Apply a top coat! Ta-da!!! Your gradient is done!
Here is the final look!
Now the updated manicure. The gradient was done using BaronessX - Malibu Melon, Palisades Pink and Venice Beach Violet. Then I stamped a design from MoYou Pro Plate 06 on my ring fingers. The rest of the nails were stamped with Pet'la Plate - Rising Sun stamping plate. I used Mundo de Unas Purple for stamping. I added some dots into the centre of the flowers using BaronessX - Laguna Lime. I finished my manicure with a coat od OPI Matte Top Coat.
I hope this tutorial is helpful to you, because I think it works perfect for me. If you try it, please let me know your results. I would really like to hear from you. Also, I hope this tropical manicure made your day/evening better. :) It was very sunny around here today, and I just wanted to make something bright!
<3 Stay tuned <3
Thanks <3
