Hello ladies,
I have seen these days a lot of questions regarding stamping polishes, so I decided to show my beloved Mundo de Unas to you! As you have probably heard (or not), these are the best stamping polishes out there at the moment. I have discovered them this winter, and I was firstly in doubt if I should get them or not. Well, I think this was one of my best hauls ever! I am not exaggerating! Check all the details after the jump!
Let's start with the formula. It is very thick which is awesome for stamping polishes, because that gives them the great opacitiy. Some of them are maybe a bit too thick, but if you add to them a bit of nail polish thinner (NOT ACETONE!!), that problem should be solved as well. You don't have to apply a lot of polish to the design. I can do one hand with only two drops! :) The metallic ones (gold, silver, copper, old pink and metallic purple) tend to separate quickly, so make sure to shake them once in while (I shake them every week) in order to keep them "healthy" and "alive".
The smell. This is the only disadvantage if you ask me - besides the fact that we actually don't know what are the ingredients of these polishes, so if you are concerned about that, it is better not to use them. It smells almost like car paint - I do know this smell, because my boyfriend loves playing with his van. Anyway, the smell can be a bit anoying, but I can live with it! I have read Sylvia made some polishes with scents, but I haven't got the chance to get my hand on any of those.
The color range. Well, this is the reason why I started thinking about MdU at all. There are more than 60 shades available, and I have heard a new collection is coming soon. I am already so excited to see it! There are tones of pink, blue, green shades, but also a lot of yellows, oranges, purples... Actually, everything you need! From pastels, bright colors, neons, metallics... All in all, you will have a serious trouble to choose only few of them.
I have prepared some swatches for you. As I have ran out of swatch sticks (and I hate doing nail art ansd stamping on a swatch wheel), I made the swatched on my own nails, using different color stamping polish on each nail. When applying the polish, make sure to scrap as much as you can from the design, otherwise the polish on the stamper will be a bit too wet, and you will have some small issues with transfering the image on the nail (what I am talking about is the best visible on the red polish swatches). So, let's have a look! The plate used for stamping is MoYou London Mother Nature Plate 11 and Catrice Black for base.

Oh, wow! I need a few of them in my life. Would you recommend them to a stamping beginner?
ReplyDeleteI thought I need a few as well, and ended up with this huge collection! :) Sure, they are perfect for beginners, because this way you can take a bit more time between the scraping and stamping, because they don't dry so fast on the design as other polishes! :)
Deletewow! like all!
ReplyDeleteMe too! :) That is why I have them all! :) <3
DeleteWaw waw krasni.
DeleteGreat comparison. I love MdU polishes..
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great comparison post! I'm bookmarking it for future reference. Thanks for all your hard work!
ReplyDeleteThank you Serene. I thought it would be helpful and I am glad you like it! :)
DeleteI just received my first order. Just used MdU for hours. My throat, gums, and nose are very irritated. So are my kids. Hubby has a fan blowing out the window to try and rid the smell. I asked MdU about the smell. She says it is Acrylic Resin and to use in a well ventilated area. Well, my craft room is upstairs and so are my kids bedrooms. My whole family has irritated throats. I have pets too. This is very disappointing. I might have to sell what I just waited months for. 36 bottles of bad chemicals! I don't care how it stamps, health is more important.
ReplyDeleteThis is very disheartening.
I looked acrylic resin up. Says it's used in household latex paint and used to make plexiglass.

I am really sad to hear about your experience, but, as you can see in the post, I have written honestly about the smell! So I am not making anyone buy them and not telling about the smell.
DeleteAlso, when writing such comments, I would appretiate if you don't comment anonymously, since I would like to know to whom I am answering! Thank you!
Also, if you googled these polishes before buying them, you would know what to expect...
DeleteI never said anything was your fault?
ReplyDeleteI was posting comments here because your link is posted for color swatching on MdU's website. I was leaving a comment for those who haven't ordered yet to realize how bad these smell. Makes me wonder if this is even safe for us. No ingredients are given. Your post was done in February and I ordered in January so I never seen your review before ordering. I never seen anyone mention the smell was atrocious. I just seen people saying it was great to stamp with, which is why I ordered it.
I don't sign into websites that require FB or Google+ log in. This is personal choice. I believe FB and Google know way too much about our life.
I did sign my name with my IG account name. That's the only place I have public status. I will share the love all things nails, but will not sign in using either of those accounts. Just my choice.
Isn't a blog supposed to be to share information?
That's all I was doing.
First of all, your signature was a bit weird, I wouldn't have thought it is an IG account name (you know, the @ was missing). I just hate when I don't know who I am talking to, sorry! :)
DeleteSecondly, everyone who read my review, could have seen my honest opinion. I wrote both about the smell and the ingedients. Also, I never said it is my fault, cuz I know it isn't. I did my job well, showed my fans and wider audience what I think about them, and that is all. Everything else is up to you (and those who buy them). I also mentioned that if cou are concerned about your health, don't use it, cuz there are no ingredients given.
Also, can you please link to the page where my link is posted? Cuz I can not find it! :) Thanks!
I am not mad or anything, just you know... I would really appretiate if I knew who I am answering to! Imagine yourself talking to an unknown person! :)
The link to this post is on Mundo De Unas FB page, that's how I found you. Didn't she ask you if she could link this to her FB?
ReplyDeleteI love how you did your color comparison here. That was alot of work. Well done.
I haven't really gone to blogs before and I didn't think to add the @ symbol because I'm not a youngin who knows how to do all that stuff. Still learning.
I mostly just stick to IG because I know how to use that.
I will read and learn about blogs. Just learned recently about FB groups for polish, stampers etc.
It's a big Internet world to learn!
Take care
Vicki
Oh, I know for the FB page! You just wrote firstly that it is on their website, and I couldn't find it there. :)
