Good morning! :)
You remember I had some great flowers nail art yesterday? Well, I had to do some butterfly nail art as well. Butterflies are really my thing, and as I received last week some super bright holos from Angelyn of Doctor Lacquer, I had to come up with something cute! I love the color range of these Kaleidoscope World holos (read the entire review here) so I decided to do a gradient butterfly wing manicure, using all the colors from this beautiful collection.
Firstly, lets see the manicure and below you will find the description of the procedure.
Soft light
Direct artificial light
Polishes I have used:
1. white - Kleancolor White
2. yellow - Doctor Lacquer Carotene (holo)
3. orange - Doctor Lacquer Lycopene (holo)
4. pink - Doctor Lacquer Annatto (holo)
5. magenta pink - Doctor Lacquer Hemoglobin (holo)
6. green - Doctor Lacquer Chlorophyll (holo)
7. lime green - Doctor Lacquer Lutein (holo)
8. blue - Doctor Lacquer Phycocyanin (holo)
I started my manicure with one coat of white polish, so that the manicure would pop out. After that I applied two coats of yellow polish.. Because the polish dries very fast, I didn't have to use my fast drying top coat in between.
Then I prepared a piece of plastic bag and a fan brush. Yes, I am doing all my gradients with a fan brush and not with a sponge, because this way the gradient becomes really flawless. It is still a bit messy, though. Firstly, I did the gradient on my ring fingers, using Carotene, Lycopene, Annatto and Hemoglobin. I repeated the procedure three times, to reach the wanted color accuracy. Did some fast clean up and added one coat of Poshe fast drying top coat - although the polish dries really fast. I repeated this procedure on the rest of my nails using different polishes - Carotene, Lutein, Chlorophyll and Phycocyanin.
I chose to do a design from Nailz Craze 01 Stamping Plate - the famous butterfly wings. This plate is not mine - I got it for some playing from my boyfriends sister. I used the smaller designs on all the nails except my thumbs, because they are a bit longer. I always have some troubles when applying this design, I struggle for 20 minutes (every single time!!), and I figure out a way how to transfer the design the best on the nails. I used Essence Stamp Me! Black for stamping. I added some white dots to make the entire thing a bit cuter! I finished my manicure with one coat of Poshe top coat.
I love this design to bits, and I have to order this plate myself, but I keep postponing - maybe the Santa will bring me some polish/stamping related goodies (my wishlist is huge - haha). :) I hope you had a great time reading this post and stay tuned for more great nail arts and swatches!
